For its first hanging, IMAGES DE FER presented Alain Pras' photos. The big format, the strong color, the frontal aspect of the shot as well as its subject, active industrial areas, register its work, in the tradition of the biggest names of the “photographie plasticienne”, Becher, Bustamante and Gursky. Alain Pras'book having the same name as the gallery IMAGES DE FER (Iron pictures), is permanently available at the Gallery. In an evident relationship with this first exhibition, IMAGES DE FER presents currently the work of Jérôme Revon, a French producer.

What is « photographie plasticienne » ?
This photography isn’t simply a reproduction of the reality. The work becomes a huge set including the shot, the size, the "mise en scene", the print, the mounting, the digital retouching, the use of photomontage or photosticking. Color and large formats are often privileged. The picture takes form from an artistic project, from its conceptualization, from its implement and from its expression’s mode. The creators grouped together under this term of “photographie plasticienne” have two origins : those whom the practice is related to the contemporary creation and those who integrate the photography to their practice. These transformations of Photography’s statut are due to technological revolutions : in the appearance of the digital process and in the evolution of the market (the photography has henceforth its place = the photo is signed and sold to a number limited of copies). |
